Valentine's Day is all about love, and not just love between partners, but also love for your family, friends, and most importantly...you.
This year, even if you're in a relationship or not, rather than looking to someone else to make you feel special, valued, and beautiful inside and out, I want to help you do that for yourself. Here are my tips for showing yourself some love this Valentine's Day.
There's nothing like waking up in the morning to a tidy bedroom, fresh laundry, and a clean kitchen.
It may sound like a (literal) chore, but getting all of the 'have to do's' out of the way the day before will not only mean that you have less to worry about on the day, but it will also give you that wonderful dopamine hit that you get from feeling like you've accomplished something.
Who says that someone else has to buy you a box of chocolates or flowers? If that's your thing, then go ahead and buy some for yourself. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, even a box of Milk Tray can feel like a luxury indulgence.
Breathe Box Recommends: If you really want to treat yourself, I recommend you take a look at the selection available from Sam Joseph Chocolates, especially the Truffle Collection Box for a great selection of their gorgeous truffles.
Plan an At-Home Spa Day
As we've all been stuck at home, it can feel like our options for downtime have been restricted, but there are plenty of ways to recreate a spa-like experience at home. If you have a bath, then bubbles, bath salts, and a glass of something on the side. Close your eyes, listen to some relaxing music or a guided meditation, then before you know it, your body may be at home, but your head is in a luxury spa being pampered just like you deserve.
If you don't have a bath, then an extra-long 'steam' in the shower, followed by a moisturising face mask can have the same effect.
Breathe Box Recommends: To add to that feeling of relaxation, I recommend you take a look at local Cheshire soap maker Bath 2 Basics and take a look at their selection of soaps, bath salts, and skincare, especially the Lavender Bath Salts for that extra sleepy, relaxed feeling.
Take Some Time
Everyone has been affected by this pandemic differently, some people have found themselves with a lot of extra time on their hands, and some people have found themselves even busier than usual.
If you're working in frontline services such as healthcare, emergency services, education, or retail, or if you are trying to balance work and childcare, then you probably don't have a lot of time to give yourself a spa day or organise your home. That's why it is even more important to carve out (and insist on!) at least half an hour to yourself.
Breathe Box Recommends: Light a gorgeous Cedar and Jasmine scented candle from Apold Apothecary, and enjoy a nice cup of tea from Cheshire Tea. I recommend their Delicious Berry Fruit Tea for a relaxing sweet treat.
